Climate Party leader Ed Gemmell announces candidacy in Uxbridge & Ruislip by-election

Ed Gemmell, the charismatic leader of the Climate Party, is ready to shake things up in the Uxbridge & Ruislip by-election on Thursday, 20 July. This pivotal election comes hot on the heels of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson's resignation, a result of a scathing Parliamentary report and a vote of no confidence.

Gemmell has been pounding the pavements of Uxbridge, rallying support for his nomination. He has now gathered all the signatures required to run in the by-election ahead of a busy month campaigning. His message of climate urgency has struck a chord with locals across the political spectrum, proving that the environment is an issue that unites us all.

This by-election is a landmark moment for the Climate Party, marking their debut in Parliamentary elections. But Gemmell is no stranger to the political arena. He's been a tireless advocate for the environment since the 2019 Wycombe elections and a familiar face in local politics in Buckinghamshire.

Gemmell is clear about the Climate Party's mission: "We're here to shake up the status quo. We're here to make sure the big parties can't ignore the elephant in the room - climate change. We're here to grab the massive commercial opportunity for Britain that comes with leading the decarbonisation industrial revolution, and we won't stop until the other parties embrace these targets too.

He added, "Britain has the chance to be a commercial climate leader. Uxbridge voters can light the fuse of this new industrial revolution and at the same time vote for what matters most - our planet's future."

Ed Gemmell, director of a national charity manager and eco-conscious dad of two teenage boys, shared a moving dream that inspired his climate activism. "In 2019, I had a nightmare. My grown-up kids came home from a war over water, blaming me for not doing enough to prevent it. I woke up in tears, realising that I had to do more. That's when I decided to dedicate my life to fighting climate change."

This heartfelt dream has since been the driving force behind Gemmell’s unwavering commitment to the climate cause. His dedication to the environment and his passion for seeing Britain as the winner from the world-wide rush to decarbonise are the cornerstones of his campaign.

The Climate Party, under Gemmell’s leadership, is ready to shake up the political landscape, focusing on the most pressing issue of our time - climate change. The Uxbridge by-election is a golden opportunity for voters to make a stand for the environment, drive the change they wish to see in the world and usher in a period of prosperity for British people in the 2030s.
