Be a Councillor
If you want to move the subject of Climate Change higher up the political agenda in your local community, why not become a local councillor? Becoming a councillor puts you in a position where you can influence what takes priority on your local council's political agenda. It means you can represent and speak up for all those local residents who want to see their local leaders take climate change seriously. There are local elections coming up so the Climate Party is holding a free "Be a councillor" session in central London, close to Westminster, to explain how to enter local politics and answer your questions.
The session takes place at the Local Government Association, 18 Smith Square, London SW10 3HZ this coming Friday 5th April from 11am-12.30pm. It will be led by Ed Gemmell, the leader of the Climate Party. When you arrive please go to Reception and say that you are attending the Climate Party event and you will be given directions to the Meeting Room.
With the General Election looming, we need as many people as possible to step up and take the lead in their local community so that Climate Change is at the forefront of people's minds when the political parties start canvassing for votes.
We really hope to see you there!
